The Perm & The Skullet is a non-profit music blog devoted to bringing you music of all kinds.
Although we prefer that rustic, acoustic, unusual, whiskey soaked sound, we do like music of all styles and genres. If you have something you think we should listen to, by all mean, let us know.
All Links and MP3s are for sampling, evaluation, and introduction purposes only and are intended to provide exposure to said artist / film / site etc...
If you like it, please go buy it.
Online, we recommend Insound, emusic or directly from the artist or their label. Locally, we recommend Schoolkids Records or Bull City Records.
Most Mp3 samples are only available for a limited time, usually a week or two. If there is something you missed, and it is currently unavailable or out of print, please let us know and we can see what we can do.
MP3s, Links, and Images can easily be taken down, so if you are the owner or their representation, and would like said link or file removed, just let us know and we'€™ll be happy to do so. You can E-mail me directly here for any questions or concerns or submissions.

“As soon as it becomes your profession to critique a book, or movie, or record then, not only do you lose your passion for it, but it loses validity for whoever you’re trying to turn it onto because they’re going to be approaching it from a consumer’s point of view, not from a professional writer’s point of view.”

Mixel Pixel and more
Mixel Pixel is a new band to me, but they seem to have been around for quite some time. Their 3rd major record release is coming this month with The Contact Kid. I listened to a few tracks and it grows on you fast. More impressed was I, after viewing their website and the amazing artwork done by band member Rob Corradetti. I grabed a still from their 2nd album and placed it here with a link to their site. Explore the site. It's a MUST! and check out Rob's site here. Truely inspiring prints and drawings.
They also have a myspace account here and Rob has a blog here.
In other news, my mac came back to me and is still running. I had a chance to back up all my audio tracks and pics, so I feel better. Will write more tomorrow. Night-

Hi! I'm Lauren, from Raleigh, NC, living in NYC now--coincidentally with Rob from Mixel Pixel, who also happens to be my dear boyfriend. I was just googling reviews of their new album and found a fellow Raleigh-ite Mixel Pixel fan! Granted, I'm biased, but totally stoked that someone down there is supporting their music. Kudos to you! They'll be playing in Winston Salem in a couple of weeks. Hopefully next time they'll get a venue closer to the Triangle.

Thanks Lauren! "Contact Kid" is great and I can't stop listening to Penny Rocket Romantic. I was actually going to try and get over to Winston to catch that show. Thanks for taking the time to post a comment and for your kind words.
