The Perm & The Skullet is a non-profit music blog devoted to bringing you music of all kinds.

Although we prefer that rustic, acoustic, unusual, whiskey soaked sound, we do like music of all styles and genres. If you have something you think we should listen to, by all mean, let us know.

All Links and MP3s are for sampling, evaluation, and introduction purposes only and are intended to provide exposure to said artist / film / site etc... If you like it, please go buy it.

Online, we recommend Insound, emusic or directly from the artist or their label. Locally, we recommend Schoolkids Records or Bull City Records.

Most Mp3 samples are only available for a limited time, usually a week or two. If there is something you missed, and it is currently unavailable or out of print, please let us know and we can see what we can do.

MP3s, Links, and Images can easily be taken down, so if you are the owner or their representation, and would like said link or file removed, just let us know and we'€™ll be happy to do so. You can E-mail me directly here for any questions or concerns or submissions.

Quote by:
Will Oldham

“As soon as it becomes your profession to critique a book, or movie, or record then, not only do you lose your passion for it, but it loses validity for whoever you’re trying to turn it onto because they’re going to be approaching it from a consumer’s point of view, not from a professional writer’s point of view.”

Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blues is one of the greatest albums I have ever heard and everytime I share it with someone else, they have at least acknowledged the beauty of it. I bring it up because my parents actually gave me a copy of this album on vinyl today for my birthday. It is hard to find and in the condition mine is in, even harder. Included was the original record sleeve, gatefold cover and insert, with the vinyl being near mint. Ah, mind numbing.

Anyway, this album is currently unavailable in any format. All we have floating around are vinyl copies and cassettes, but you can't just go down to Best Buy and get this...unfortunantly. Well during my search for this album I came across Dan Addington's site that devotes itself to everything Wilson. He has even produced 2 cds, in which you can purchase, that have the songs from this album, some Beach Boys stuff he did, and unreleased tracks. I bought Dreamer and was stunned. I contacted him and for an extremely low cost (price of cd) he made a copy of the original POB from vinyl and burned me a cd. This guy loves Dennis and wants other to know his music. Check out the site here.

Tracklisting:
River Song (Dennis Wilson/Carl Wilson)
What's Wrong (Dennis Wilson/Gregg Jakobson/M. Horn)
Moonshine (Dennis Wilson/Gregg Jakobson)
Friday Night (Dennis Wilson/Gregg Jakobson)
Dreamer (Dennis Wilson/Gregg Jakobson)
Thoughts of You (Dennis Wilson/J. Dutch)
Time (Dennis Wilson/Karen Lamm Wilson)
You and I (Dennis Wilson/Karen Lamm Wilson/Gregg Jakobson)
Pacific Ocean Blue (Dennis Wilson/Mike Love)
Farewell My Friend (Dennis Wilson)
Rainbows (Dennis Wilson/Carl Wilson/S. Kalanich)
End of the Show (Dennis Wilson/Gregg Jakobson)
(get the lyrics here)

This might be my greatest gift of knowledge to you and if you have a hard time getting a copy let me know, but what ever you do, get your hands on these songs!
