The Perm & The Skullet is a non-profit music blog devoted to bringing you music of all kinds.
Although we prefer that rustic, acoustic, unusual, whiskey soaked sound, we do like music of all styles and genres. If you have something you think we should listen to, by all mean, let us know.
All Links and MP3s are for sampling, evaluation, and introduction purposes only and are intended to provide exposure to said artist / film / site etc...
If you like it, please go buy it.
Online, we recommend Insound, emusic or directly from the artist or their label. Locally, we recommend Schoolkids Records or Bull City Records.
Most Mp3 samples are only available for a limited time, usually a week or two. If there is something you missed, and it is currently unavailable or out of print, please let us know and we can see what we can do.
MP3s, Links, and Images can easily be taken down, so if you are the owner or their representation, and would like said link or file removed, just let us know and we'€™ll be happy to do so. You can E-mail me directly here for any questions or concerns or submissions.

Quote by: Will Oldham
“As soon as it becomes your profession to critique a book, or movie, or record then, not only do you lose your passion for it, but it loses validity for whoever you’re trying to turn it onto because they’re going to be approaching it from a consumer’s point of view, not from a professional writer’s point of view.”

Sigur Ros coming to Durham
As you know, I live in NC, so we have plenty of shows that come through here, between Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. One act that I never thought would journey into our neck of the woods was the Icelandic band Sigur Ros, but they are on their way here via The Carolina Theatre in Durham on September 7th, and I don't know what to expect. I have been a huge fan since agaetis byrjun and () blew me away. Their new album, "takk", is out September 12th and the tracklisting is as follows:
01 takk... 02 glósóli 03 hoppípolla 04 með blóðnasir 05 sé lest 06 sæglópur 07 mílanó 08 gong 09 andvari 10 svo hljótt 11 heysátan
Check out their offical site for more info and downloads (mp3 + video). Below are 2 tracks from () and a Quicktime video for the absolutely amazing "Unititled 1"...enjoy
(mp3) untitled #4 (a.k.a. njósnavélin / the nothing song) (mp3) untitled #8 (a.k.a. popplagið / the pop song) (qtv) untitled #1 [a.k.a. vaka]

I been searching and searching for njósnavélin and it seemed more difficult for me than it really was. I just wanted to say thank you so,so,so much. This song is what made me know she was the one. Yup, my own words are in it some where. Thanks for all the info!!

You are truly welcome. Sigur Ros are one of those bands that can provide moments of clarity and can take you to "that place" where everything is o.k.
