On the Turntable
Quote by: Will Oldham “As soon as it becomes your profession to critique a book, or movie, or record then, not only do you lose your passion for it, but it loses validity for whoever you’re trying to turn it onto because they’re going to be approaching it from a consumer’s point of view, not from a professional writer’s point of view.” Submissions

Friday, May 27, 2005 Please find a way to see this movie! That being said...Tarnation is a film by 31 year old, first time director, Jonathan Caouette. Some have called his film an "auto-documentary", but this film is more a self-portrait of Caouette's family life put together from over 20 years of photographs, tape recordings, and home movies (Hi8, Beta, VHS, and mini dv) that he's shot throughout his life. One of the greatest aspects of this truely independent film (for me anyway) is how it was put together on a basic Mac computer editing with only iMovie. I can't say enough about this film. Check out his site and view the trailer here . The film is available on dvd, so check it out.
